The staff on The Gathering... are rather friendly and work very diligently on helping their players and correcting any problems that are found as they arise. I feel like TG is a good choice for those who are new to MUD-ding. TG has a newbie area that walks you through the very basics, from movement to various commands that you will be using throughout gameplay.
