**Harshlands: A Tale of Glory and Gloom**
**The Good:**
Harshlands is a treasure trove of rich history and immersive storytelling, thanks to the incredible contributions of past staff and players. The game world is vast and detailed, offering a deep dive into a medieval fantasy realm that has captivated many over the years.
**The Bad:**
Fast forward to 2024, and the magic seems to be fading. The current staff appears to play favorites, leaving many players feeling ignored and unsupported. If you don't conform to their metrics or play in the "right" zones, expect to be left out in the cold. The coveted RPP (Role-Playing Points) system, meant to reward better character play, seems skewed and inaccessible to those outside the favored circles.
**The Ugly:**
New players face a steep uphill battle, with "baby gates" like OOC (Out of Character) coins controlling a crumbling economy. Advancement is painfully slow, taking months or even years due to stringent staff policies. Joining a guild? Brace yourself for the "productivity wall," limiting your actions and forcing you to log out and wait.
**The Reality:**
Most of your role-playing might end up being solitary, sitting in a virtual tavern with nothing left to do. The game demands a significant time investment, almost like taking on a second job, but the rewards are few and far between.
**Final Thoughts:**
Harshlands has the potential to be a fantastic game, but it needs a serious overhaul to regain its former glory. Until then, players might find themselves more frustrated than entertained.
