The Mystic Realm

The Mystic Realm is a fantasy MUD built from a heavily customized tbaMUD 2025 codebase, offering classic hack-and-slash roots with a modern layer of original systems on top.

Choose from nine custom classes: Monk, Ninja, Nightblade, Lightblade, Knight, Ranger, Samurai, Witcher, and Vampyre, alongside the traditional staples, each with distinct combat identities. Combat goes well beyond swing-and-miss: signature skills like Iaijutsu, Kabuto Wari, Midare Setsugekka, Shuriken Storm, Dragon Punch, and Assassinate give every class its own rhythm and toolkit.

Eight playable races: Human, Elf, Dwarf, Halfling, Gnome, Drow, Orc, and Centaur, each carry their own mechanical bonuses and class restrictions, so your race matters as much as your class.

Combat has been enhanced with ranged combat weapons and spells that can hit mobs in adjacent rooms.

Beyond combat, The Mystic Realm features a gang system for player factions, player housing at the Silver Dragon Inn, a competitive leaderboard, a quest chain system with an evolving multi-arc storyline, and a solo instanced zone system for adventures that are yours alone. An item etching/ownership system and unique bane weapons add extra layers of progression and identity to your gear.

If you don't like to travel alone, you can tame almost any mob in the game as a companion that levels with you up to level 50. Found a mob that would be an interesting companion, but already have one? Travel to The Menagerie and store your current one and tame another one. "Gotta Catch them all!"

Tired of walking everywhere? The Mystic Realm now supports mounts! Tame a wolf, warg, bear, spider, wyvern, griffon, treant, and many more using your existing TAME skill. Certain creatures across the world will now yield a rideable mount instead of a companion the first time you successfully tame them. Tame that same creature again later and it'll join you as a companion instead.

Gather, craft, enchant — no limits. Every player masters all 5 gathering and 5 crafting professions at once, forging weapons and armor across 11 rarity tiers, from Common to Cosmic. Push your gear further with risk/reward enchanting — stack stats for real power, at real risk. Power shows at a glance: your gear speaks for itself.
