One of the best MUDs

I've played a lot of MUDS as well as many multiplayer text RPGs, and for fantasy MUDS still running, Astaria's one of the most immersive for those who like exploration. The MUD works really well with programs like Mudlet and other telnet clients which makes it easy to play as well.

The devs are active and receptive to the community; they release new content and revise guides and systems to keep everything interesting and welcoming. Also I think the guilds and classes on Astaria all feel different which is difficult to do sometimes; playing a psion, fighter, druid or bard doesn't just feel like playing a reskinned version of another class. Paladins and clerics and mages don't just have different spells, they inhabit different worlds and have different histories. Every class really is a new experience. The items and monsters and areas all seem unique to this world which is good for those looking for something new.

The other players in-game have always been friendly, and people always talk to each other on their discord server, too, which makes the world feel alive.
