Sindome markets itself as a dystopian cyberpunk world, rife with corporate overtaking and oppressive vibes. It fairs fine when applying this theme to the world, though some players lack the foresight and struggle to really grasp what the administrators and GM team have tried to push in the past 5-6 years.
Roleplay is enforced. This is fine. There is an IC communication network that allows for non-in person interaction. I am torn with this decision between good and bad. It means, most people you CAN interact with, do NOT personally interact with you, unless given a good enough reason like killing you, bribing, kidnapping, extorting, ect. It sucks a bit of the every day interaction out of the world, and makes some players feel like enigmas, and that SUCKS, but it is also just a tool.
Cliches. They happen in all games. Its encouraged in Sindome, and also encouraged to fuck over people you know through plots and such to obtain something very powerful or a position you want in a corporation or syndicate (technically the same thing, but syndicates being more under the book).
Time. Time time time. That's what it takes to excel in Sindome and leave a real mark. 3 points per day if you log in correctly and roleplay. Upwards to 2500 ish points to get. That's exacerbatingly painful of a time sink. Sure, roleplay can technically get you anything you want- given the PCs and GMs play well. They don't. So you're stuck in a cycle of trying, trying, trying, failing, trying, and MAYBE succeed. But its never to the degree you want. Its a play to lose game essentially, and a bit of fun occurs in the losses. But if you can't play the social game for years...you're pretty screwed.
Mechanically, combat is boring. Stat checks, the usual. Nothing big, nothing changing. Cybernetic augments mean that established characters with more time than you will make them impossible to challenge without begging someone or paying someone else to help take them down. But your 3 month old character? No fucking CHANCE solo against a year old character. Or maybe even a six month character. Combat is a main part of Sindome, and the UE system forces you to feel like logging in at all times to keep up to the curve, and maybe ONE YEAR, be able to solo face that rival you've had since day one.
Don't expect anything, except roleplay. Combat, non-combat roles, and silly roleplay are averagely intertwined into a world that feels sort of small because of the SIC system and restrained skill point game.
