Diku: Death Is Just the Beginning. A heavily-modified DikuMUD where dying is a career move, not a setback. Roll one of 10 classic-with-a-twist classes (Warrior, Mage, Cleric, Thief, Ninja, Commando, Paladin, Bard, Shaman, Anti-Paladin, Nomad). Re-envisioned skills and spells. Grind your way to level 50 and then The Reaper offers a deal. Survive long enough and your character can return as one of 25 distinct undead forms — Death Knight, Lich, Vampire, Banshee, Bonern Marshal, Dirge Singer, Spirit Caller, Plague Husk, and twenty more, each with their own abilities, hunger mechanics, and rules of unlife. Survive the undead climb and return to mortal form with a permanent Signature Skill burned into your soul forever. A world built room-by-room, not generated: Sewers, Haondor (light and dark), Moria 1 and 2, Frostfell, Northern Plains, Ofcol, Midgaard's full footprint, the Threggi spire, the Shattered Heavens, Loftwick, the Holy Grove, and an Ethereal Maze for when teleport mishaps strand you between worlds. For builders: A full custom OLC suite (redit, medit, oedit, zedit, mpedit)rn with a unified mob/room/object prog system, 28 triggers, local variables, dice and random-pick substitution, and per-zone builder permissions. Build a quest in an hour, not a weekend. For implementors: Atomic player saves, autosave every two minutes, crash-handler emergency dumps, hand-edit-safe area files (orphan preservation across OLC saves), and active development by a small team that actually plays the MUD. Newbie-friendly, veteran-deep: A dedicated Mudschool zone teaches the basics, every fresh character gets a starter kit on start, and the help system covers all 25 undead classes and 364+ abilities with hand-written entries.
