I think this game is: 5 / 5
I don't recommend this game.
I was unfairly banned. The staff treated me as though I was my character(s) and publicly shared false information about me. I reached out calmly and in good faith to give them the chance to recognize their mistakes. Everyone can make errors or be influenced by emotions and external factors, and should be given that opportunity.
I learned the hard way, through attempting to collaborate, what the staff's approach truly was. I spent hours contributing creativity and effort to build and complete an area in the game for their story, even though I didn't personally agree with the direction. The story was very centered on staff-controlled royal characters, which I dislike, as I believe non-staff player characters should take priority. My characters were treated as mere side-characters and were easily dismissed by them.
During a disagreement, I was pressured to follow their demands regarding my character, or face a ban. I was accused of wanting to “kill” a staff member’s character, which was untrue. I had no chance to defend myself, collaborate meaningfully, or demonstrate my perspective. Everything I contributed was negated instantly.
The conflict involved two admin, and one was the main RP staff too. To resolve the situation, I requested mediation from someone not emotionally involved in the RP, and later asked for a RETCON to remove my character from the storyline. Instead, rather than framing the outcome as a collaborative decision so that everyone could continue enjoying the game, they made it personal.
I never took things personally, but they clearly did. I tried to work around emotions and feelings to allow the story to continue for everyone, but I no longer wanted to be involved in that particular storyline, and that is a valid choice in RP. Despite my willingness to have my character face consequences in a fair and meaningful way, my attempts were ignored. Consent and collaborative storytelling were dismissed, and I was forced into a role of constant defeat.
I felt continually targeted despite every effort to re-engage and play fairly. Those who knew me in the game know that the narrative they shared about me was not true. I met some excellent role-players there, and it is unfortunate that the staff’s choices tarnished what could have been a continual enjoyable experience. Thank you to those fellow roleplayers.
