I played this MUD recently. I left in protest of how their staff handled a situation with a long established player. This player was one of the more constant presence and immersive RPers that enriched the game greatly, but a personal dispute OOCly along with staff prejudice due to their personal relationships to players led to a witch hunt and harsh punishment of this player. After establishing personal boundaries oocly with another player (player b) that was violated repeatedly by that player b led to player b bringing this into the game and involving the staff. Player B currently enjoys a romantic RP with the pc of a staff member. After demanding Player A be punished for the boundaries set because his character was the only one to suffer. She declined the proposed make it right offer. The coder is also tied to a player that has joined Player B to her family and has a grievance against Player A crying to the coder constantly about decision others make on their own blaming them on Player A. Player A was recently the focal point of a month long story plot by staff, suddenly upon these others complaining and her sending in logs showing threats of using staff to punish her she was informed she was being banned for 6 months and having her characters deleted. A six month ban is extremely punitive in a MUD as it effectively shatters all established RP and leaves the banned having to reintegrate into the game. Removing 10+ years of the players work is just a slap to the face. The result has led to many of the more interactive story driven players leaving and the remaining players are either staff pets or looking for excessive ERP.
